Recently, Hubei Sanhai Optics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Sanhai Optics"), which is rooted in the Wuhan Optics Valley Optoelectronic Industry Belt, announced that its independently developed high transparency vehicle mounted LiDAR lens group has officially achieved large-scale production, with a monthly production capacity of 150000 pieces. This product not only breaks the monopoly of foreign technology, but also enters the mainstream automotive supply chain with a 30% cost advantage, providing key support for the localization of core optical components for intelligent driving in China.

As the core component of the intelligent driving perception system, the transmittance and anti-interference ability of the laser radar lens directly determine the accuracy of vehicle environment detection. The lens group produced by Sanhai Optics this time adopts the independently developed "integrated injection molding+multi material compatible vacuum coating process", with outstanding key indicators: high transmittance of 99.5%, anti glare rate of over 80%, and passing IP67 waterproof level and extreme environment testing of -40 ℃~85 ℃, fully meeting the requirements of L2+and above intelligent driving.

The core breakthrough of this product lies in solving the adhesion problem of traditional coating processes on different substrates, "said Zhang, the R&D director of Sanhai Optics. The company's R&D team spent 18 months tackling the problem and increased the coating layer's lifespan to over 50000 hours. Coupled with high-end testing equipment such as the Zeiss three seat standard measuring instrument from Germany, the product yield remained stable at over 98%, which is 15% higher than similar imported products. More noteworthy is that through process optimization, the product cost has been reduced by 30% compared to imported brands, effectively breaking the cost bottleneck of large-scale application of in vehicle LiDAR.

At the same time as mass production, Sanhai Optics has reached an annual framework cooperation with Desay SV, and the lens group will be supplied to mainstream new energy vehicle companies such as Xiaopeng and Ideal for the 2027 new models. At present, the first batch of 50000 orders have been delivered, and customer test data shows that the detection range of the laser radar equipped with our lens group has been increased by 10%, and the environmental recognition misjudgment rate has been reduced by 20%. "The head of the marketing department of Sanhai Optics revealed that the company will also expand overseas markets in the future, and plans to achieve a revenue share of over 40% in the automotive optics sector within this year.

Behind this mass production, the dual support of industrial capital and technological research and development is indispensable. It is reported that after receiving a 50 million yuan angel round investment from Hongshan Capital in 2025, Sanhai Optics will quickly build a 3000 square meter production base, equipped with 4 vacuum coating production lines and 3 laser lithography production lines, forming a full chain capability of "research and development trial production mass production". The R&D team of the company accounts for 35%, with core members mostly from top institutions in the industry such as Sunny Optics and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. Currently, it has accumulated two utility model patents, including "Precision Optical Component Coating".

Industry analysts point out that the penetration rate of intelligent driving in China is expected to exceed 35% by 2027, and the market size of LiDAR will exceed 50 billion yuan, but the core optical components will rely on imports for a long time. Sanhai Optics' mass production not only fills the production gap of domestic high-end car lenses, but also promotes the localization process of laser radar with the dual advantages of "technology+cost".

Wang Yashi, Sanhai Optics, stated that in the next step, the company will leverage the advantages of the Wuhan Optoelectronic Industry Cluster to launch the second phase expansion project, focusing on improving the production capacity of automotive optical components, while accelerating the research and development of AR/VR near eye display modules, striving to achieve a breakthrough in the "automotive+consumer electronics" dual track by 2028, and create a leading brand of high-end optical devices in China.
